Cookbook Giveaway: Ina Garten’s Make It Ahead

It’s time for the February cookbook giveaway! This month, I’m giving away Make It Ahead by Ina Garten.

I remember tagging along with my mom when she went to the bookstore to buy her first Ina Garten cookbook. It was 2001, before Ina was a household name, and we had watched a segment about her on Good Morning America. We ran out later that day to buy her first two cookbooks, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook and Barefoot Contessa Parties!  and we’ve been Ina fans ever since.

Ina makes the kind of food I want to eat – simple but delicious and a bit elegant but never over done.  Her recipes always work and her books have great stories and beautiful photography (and they are printed on really nice paper!) I have all of Ina’s books and it’s hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to decide I would pick Barefoot in Paris which was given to me at graduation by my wonderful high school French teacher, Madame Fox. (Merci beaucoup Madame!)

Her ninth and latest book, Make It Ahead, is full of recipes that can be made in advance, either for parties or weeknight dinners.  Ina includes classics such as Wild Mushroom and Farro Soup, French Chicken Pot Pies, Roast Turkey and Gravy with Onions and Sage, Tres Leches Cake, and Chocolate Cake with Make Ahead Whipped Cream.  An immediate hit, Make it Ahead was the #1 best-selling cookbook sold in 2014. Considering it didn’t hit shelves until late October, that’s quite an accomplishment.

I’m giving away 1 copy of the book and there are several ways to enter to win below. A winner will be randomly chosen on Sunday, March 1 and will be announced on this page and via social media. The winner will be emailed to figure out shipping logistics but if he/she does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be chosen.

Great giveaway! I've made so many of Ina's recipes I'm not sure I could pick a favorite. Most recent was her company pot roast, it was superb.

Truth be told, I disliked Ina when I first saw her on TV. For some reason she rubbed me the wrong way. Eventually I decided I couldn't let that stop me from trying her recipes. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with her cooking. She won me over!
